Apple Tree Cottage was originally built as a single cottage in the 17th century. It was later extended to become two cottages, then divided to become 3, and then 4 separate dwellings, before being converted back to 1 dwelling in 1964.
Our clients purchased the property after it being empty for some time and appointed Chalk to sensitively repair, refurbish and extend the existing historic fabric whilst addressing the internal organisation of the adjoining cottages to create a single family home. Our solution was to take the main circulation to the rear in a new glazed walkway which also connects the cottage to a new green oak framed kitchen extension.
Currently on site the project is due for completion in the autumn of 2024.
