Renovation and refurbishment of a semi-derelict C19th chateau in the medieval town of Figeac in the Midi-Pyrénées. The chateau sits on the edge of an escarpment overlooking the town and had been left to deteriorate over the last few decades. The current owners took on the challenge of renovating this piece of french heritage and converting it into bijou holiday accommodation.
The simple reconfiguration of the upper floors led to five generous suites whilst on the ground floor it was all about improving the connection with the wonderful gardens and views that surround the chateau. A light touch approach was adopted for the rest of the building with insulation levels upgraded and harmful cementitious materials removed and replace with breathable natural hydraulic lime.
