A light touch conversion of a 16th Century cattle shed, part of a Grade II* listed Elizabethan Farmstead and Manor house. Birch plywood was CNC cut to provide custom made furniture which is finished with furniture grade linoleum. The meeting room screen was also CNC cut and inserted within the historic fabric to provide acoustic separation. Douglas fir slatted screens provide a level of privacy within the open plan main office.

The subtle fit out was designed to create the best environment for encouraging creativity and a positive atmosphere, no neon lights and carpet tiles here. The lighting was simple task lighting and the flooring was stripped back to the concrete and simply painted black using industrial floor paint, on the principle that you shouldn’t do things if they don’t need doing.

Additionally we introduced lots of plants, chosen for their ability to release high levels of oxygen, and positioned them in spaces within the plywood partitions. They make a discernible difference to the atmosphere, both by cleaning the air and by introducing living things to the space.  Everything we did was aimed at promoting wellbeing – to make the office a pleasure to work in rather than a place that drains you.
