The Woodhouse is in the heart of the historic quarter of Chippenham, St Mary's St. This Grade II* property is the oldest building in the town still used as a private residence. Even the ownership of The Woodhouse comes with grazing rights for a herd of goats on the local park and the title of Freeman of Chippenham. Whilst our clients past on the goat opportunity they did take on the challenge of conserving and partially restoring this wonderful property to enable goats to be grazed on the park for another 500 years.

'Renovation' work of the late C20 had introduced some deleterious fabric that was locking moisture in places it should not. Poor repair work to the timber frame had also led to some significant structural issues. Our role along with the great team at FE Stacey & Co Ltd and The Traditional Carpenters has been to sympathetically repair the historic fabric whilst also taken the opportunity to improve the thermal efficiency and express some of the elements that had been lost.

Work is still ongoing but hopefully we shall be complete by the end of the year.
